Big Bang Bristol 6th & 7th July 2017
Explorer Dome was delighted to join the fun at Big Bang Bristol a 2-day STEM extravaganza at the Trinity Centre in Old Market. Schools and public sessions saw visitors meeting researchers and involved STEM institutions from across the region. Visitors could see the science and try out some fabulous demos (We loved Nerys and her Leidenfrost Effect demo from the University of Bath !)
We were there with liquid nitrogen, dry ice and various demonstrations from our States of Matter show along with a few exploding hydrogen balloons for good measure. Our Chemist-in-Residence Steve Cooper (pictured below) made himself very popular on one of the hottest days of the year by taking a pot of dry ice around the exhibition during breaks for all the staff to blow into and cool off!
Big Bang Bristol was a great event and one we very much hope will come back in 2018. We were proud to be part of it. Thank you to all the organisers for making it happen!
